Rainfall is measured using a Fine offset rain gauge salvaged from a Maplin weather station. Temperature is measured by a waterproof DS18B20 temperature sensor enclosed in a radiation shield also salvaged from a Maplin weather station.
One Raspberry-pi computer is dedicated to temperature monitoring, receiving the wireless signals from the sensor, logging the data and uploading the current temperature image to the website about every 6 minutes.
Another Raspberry-pi computer monitors the rain gauge and generates the daily rainfall and temperature charts.
